Landguard Road Co-op Store Windows Plaque Presentation

On the 23rd October 2019, members from the Friends of Shanklin Theatre committee, and the Shanklin Theatre Community Trust presented an engraved plaque to the Co-op Landguard Road team as a thank you to their continued support of the theatre.

Working closely with the team at the Co-op store throughout the last round of the Co-op Causes Initiative 2017-2018, volunteers of the theatre held various themed open days in-store promoting the Co-op membership scheme, handing out leaflets, shaking collection buckets and raising general awareness of the Co-op and Shanklin Theatre as valued local community assets.

The total amount raised by the Shanklin Co-op shoppers using their membership cards during 2017-2018 was a staggering £17,140.57 for the three local charities at that time. The Friends of Shanklin Theatre received a final payment of £5,902.46 to go towards the restoration of the theatre’s aging and rusted listed building windows. That money has now been invested into the theatre and has helped fund the like-for-like bespoke made replacement of the original Victorian sash style window units.

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that have shopped locally at Landguard Road Co-op and supported this very worthy cause. Our thanks also go to the brilliant team at our local Co-op for working with us in 2017-2018 lead by Julie & Simon; we look forward to working with you again in 2019-2020 for the latest round of the Local Community Fund to upgrade and renovate the theatre Bar area.
