Repairs to Shanklin Theatre are moving on apace – two more badly corroded steel windows have been removed for repair and the openings boarded up.
The windows will be stripped back to bare metal, corroded sections cut out and new sections welded in, before a powder paint coat is baked on, ready for re-installation. A new oak sill is required for one of the windows and this will be installed before the window is replaced.
The entrance canopy is also under repair – badly corroded steel sections have been cut out, the existing steel rust treated and new steel is in the process of being welded back into place.
