How Tickled We Were Ken

From Den Clare, Shanklin:

In Ken Dodd’s own words, you may be here until sunrise. Which was fair warning as the show didn’t finish until after midnight! But what a wonderful evening at Shanklin Theatre.

At 86 years old, Ken must be one of the longest performing artists in the world, with fantastic energy, never stopping for breath. Just don’t sit in the front row!

He told a continuous stream of jokes, so quick-fire you really had to listen or the laughter drowned the punch lines. And he still has a fine voice, which didn’t waver for all those hours.

Light relief came from a juggler and singing pianist, then back he came, hoping we had brought our sandwiches for the long stay. Fantastic to see the Theatre sold out again, all credit to Vic Farrow, the management and his team of volunteers.

And, once again, it was wonderful to be able to see such famous talented faces on our doorsteps, just part of the Island’s wealth of variety, so abundant for all to see.

Keep supporting, we really are extremely lucky.
