Gift Aid Small Donation Scheme

The Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS) allows eligible Charities to claim top-up payments from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on small cash donations that they receive. The scheme applies to cash donations of £20 or less, received after 6 April 2013.

Shanklin Theatre and Community Trust now meets the conditions required enabling us to qualify for the scheme. This means we are able to claim a top-up payment on up to £5,000 of small cash donations received in a tax year, resulting in a top-up payment of up to £1,250.

Our wonderful Usherettes, under the vigilant supervision of Alana Bird, can be seen after each show standing in the Foyer with their collecting buckets always at the ready gratefully receiving cash donations. Their efforts, through the generosity of our Theatre Users, have resulted in an incredible £51,000 raised in the 4 years we have been in control and this has been used for the general improvement of the Theatre.

Alana is very proud of her Bucket Collections and keeps a Top 10 prominently displayed in the Usherettes’ Room. You will see at the moment sitting in the No. 1 spot are ‘The Manfreds’ with a grand total of £534.19. This huge amount was collected mainly due to the repeated references to the impending Collection made to the audience by Paul Jones throughout their show.

Here is the current Top 10 list:

Top 10 Bucket Collections as at 12/06/14

Could they be possibly knocked off the top spot? Big total to beat, but who knows!
