Vic Farrow, Managing Director of Shanklin Theatre, presents a dossier about parking in the town to IW Councillors Richard Priest and Jon Gilbey.

A dossier against plans to extend the chargeable hours for parking to 8pm was handed to senior IW Councillors by Shanklin Theatre. The file, presented to executive member for resources, Cllr Jon Gilbey, and the executive member for children’s services, Cllr Richard Priest, both Shanklin councillors, contained notes of support from various sections of the community, including The Friends of ShanklinTheatre.
Vic Farrow, from the Theatre, said: “From the reaction received, it is likely to affect those having to use the car parks to carry out volunteer work at the Theatre in the evening. “Local and community groups that perform here are also voicing their concerns to me. That is in addition to several restaurants, both in the town and village, as well as the seafront. “The impact throughout Shanklin, will be considerable with such a knock-on effect on businesses.”
